The News of the World saga rumbles on and will soon reach the proportions of a Hollywood epic, this hasn’t stopped the Murdoch’s trying to interfere with the inquires into their dealings as reported in the New York TImes. The Murdoch’s are making a farce out of the game of charades that government enquries always are.

Eurozone Crisis

As Murdoch’s empire crashes so does that of the EU, with no sign of the debt crisis letting up, Eurozone leaders are due to meet on Thursday to discuss what to do.  As far as I see it they have 3 options:

  1. Print some more money and pretend this never happened, spin some line about losing Billions down the back of the sofa and hope no one notices.
  2. Tell Greece, Ireland, Spain, Italy and Portugal they are no longer friends and that they will not be lending them anymore money to buy sweets.  Then make sure Mum (Merkel of Germany) says the Eurozone is not allowed out to play every time the banana republics of Europe (see list above) come knocking at the door.
  3. Admit defeat and accept the fact that the whole Capitalist economy is finished. Flog the office furniture on ebay hoping to get enough to buy a plane ticket to Zimbabwe where the weather is better and their currency has a brighter future than the Euro.

Mansoor has money to burn

Carlos Tevez of Manchester City was someone else who was hoping to move to somewhere more sunny. He had his heart set on joining Corinthians in Brazil, to be honest he would go anywhere where they didn’t speak English (or the Manchester equivalent of English); and he wasn’t forced to sit through a whole episode of Coronation street as punishment for being late for training.

However Carlos is going nowhere after the Brazilian club realised £40M for a footballer is just too much to find. The official line was there wasn’t enough time for the transfer to go through.  The real reason was most likely lack of finance, they should ask Greece what difference does another £40M make when Greece are about to default on Billions.

Despite not selling Tevez, Manchester City and their owner Sheikh Mansoor are still willing to fork out £39M for Sergio Aguero of Athletico Madrid. The only people with money these days are the Sheikhs in the Gulf, it’s a shame they are spending it all on football clubs and cheap thrills in Dubai imagine how much the starving people of Africa could do with this wealth right now.

Vatican given some abuse back

The debt Italy owes makes the Greek’s look positively debt free and with a Prime Minister like Berlusconi  you would think nothing else could possibly go wrong. Well this is Vatican country after all and with their track record something has to go wrong every other week.  Now Irish Prime Minster Enda Kenny is laying into the Vatican accusing them of caring more for church than for the victims of sexual abuse.

All in all what a lovely place we live in, with East Africa struggling to feed itself because of Western economic polices; the ‘developed’ world is drowning in their own political, economic and moral failings.

Surely its time for Plan B.
