Almost a week after the killing of Osama Bin Laden the media and politicians the world over are still attempting to give their version of the events. Many people have become caught in the mire of conspiracy theories whilst others have rushed to condemn the Pakistani government for not detecting Bin Laden earlier.

It can sometimes be difficult in such times to get a grasp the facts and know how to react to the events and make sense of all the media news.

In the coming days, weeks and months the following point should be remembered .

1. 9/11 occurred over nine years ago, the Islamic position on this was made clear by Muslim at the time. The world now knows it is not Islamically legitimate to

kill innocents  as in those attacks.  The death of Bin Laden has brought this back up in the news. The Muslim community has no need to keep apologizing for actions they did not commit, the inferiority complex needs to end.

2. With the anniversary of 9/11 coming up in September there will be massive media hype and vitriol towards the Muslims.  During this time the Muslim community must stand firm and highlight the West’s foreign policy in the proceeding decade. The hundreds of thousands killed in Iraq and Afghanistan clearly show the true regard America and its allies have for human life.

3. Pakistan will now be painted as failed terrorist state, this failure will be put firmly at the door of incompetent rulers and the rise of militant Islam.

It is true that the rulers are incompetent but this is due to the failed systems of Democracy and Dictatorship that Pakistan has flirted with ever since it’s creation.

Continued American interference in Pakistan’s affairs has now turned it into a failed state.  There seem to be more CIA operatives roaming around Pakistan than anywhere else in the world. Pakistan can never move forward until it stands on it’s own two feet and rids itself of Western influence.

4. The solution for Pakistan and indeed any part of the Muslim world is a return to Islamic values in all aspects of life. Whether this be in personal matters or political matters only a strong leadership based on correct Islamic thought will allow it to stand up for itself.

5. The uprising in the Muslim world or the ‘Arab Spring’ as they are now being called are not about anti-Islamic sentiment. The idea that a young man in Syria or Libya would face a tank with his bare chest for the love of Democracy and the hatred of political Islam is laughable. Only in the dreams of the Western would would this happen, the reality is the Muslim world is looking for a true change which is not about faces but about real solutions to their problems.

One look at the recent democratic process in the Ivory Coast , Kenya and Congo clearly show the kind of chaos it causes. The Muslim world needs Islam not Democracy which is a by-word for neo-colonial control.

These uprisings belong to whole Muslim world, what will come of them must be decided by the Muslim world not by Western governments and their pro-democracy propaganda.

6. We must at all times remember that Allah (swt) tests those whom he loves so these trials are a blessing for the Muslims of today.

The Arab Spring has shown the world that the Ummah of Mohammad (saw) has real courage and it is this that we must support no matter where we are in the world.  Silence is not an option.
